The Turkish Government Scholarship 2026-2027 is a fully funded scholarship for international students. This scholarship is offered to Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD students. The Turkish Government Scholarship covers a monthly stipend of up to 9,000 Turkish Lira, tuition fees, round-trip airfare, health insurance, and accommodation .

Eligibility criteria for Turkish government scholarships

To qualify for the Turkish government scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Language required:  English or Turkish
  • Eligible countries:  All countries of the world
  • Minimum academic standards:
    • Minimum academic achievement required for applicants for a bachelor's degree: 70%
    • The minimum academic achievement required for applicants for Master's and PhD degrees is 75%.
    • Minimum academic achievement for applicants to health sciences (medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy): 90%
  • Age criteria:
    • Applicants must be under 21 years of age to enroll in bachelor's degree programs.
    • Applicants must be under 30 years of age to enroll in Master's programs.
    • Applicants must be under 35 years of age to enroll in doctoral programs.
  • Eligible categories:
    • Citizens of all countries
    • Graduates or applicants who are able to graduate at the end of the current academic year (before August 2025)
    • Researchers and academics
  • Ineligible groups:
    • Turkish citizens and those who have lost Turkish citizenship
    • Students already enrolled in Turkish universities at the level of study they are applying for
  • Other requirements
    • It is recommended to obtain a TOEFL or IELTS (Test of English as a Foreign Language) certificate. This certificate is an internationally recognized standard that proves your proficiency for university studies if you wish to study in English.
    • It is recommended to submit an official academic transcript, showing all certificates, courses and degrees you may have obtained in your academic career.
    • You must submit a letter explaining your purpose for applying to this scholarship program. If your statement of purpose needs improvement, or if key points are missing, your application may be rejected.
    • Applicants must not suffer from any health problems.
    • Short-term scholarship programs may have additional application requirements; please review the requirements during the application period.

How to apply for a Turkish government scholarship?

Please follow these step-by-step instructions to benefit from the Turkish government scholarship:

(1) Make an account on the website of the scholarship from here

  • Applications can only be made individually through www.turkiyeburslari.gov.tr by the candidates.
  • There are no institutions or individuals authorized to submit applications for scholarships in Türkiye.
  • Candidates are strongly advised to read the instructions and warnings in the application system carefully.
  • Applicants are required to submit and upload the necessary documents to the application system.
  • Orders delivered by mail, courier companies, or by hand will not be accepted.
  • Orders are free.
  • Scholarships in Türkiye include both tuition and university registration fees. Applicants will be directed to a university and program from among 12 options they select through the application system.

(2) Complete the online application with the required documents.
(3) All applicants must submit the following documents when submitting their online application:

  • A valid national identity document or a valid passport
  • A recent photo of the candidate (please note that the photo you upload to the application system must be a clear personal photo of you, as unclear photos of the candidate will negatively affect the evaluation of your application).
  • National exam results (required for candidates who do not possess any international qualification or certificate)
  • Diploma or temporary graduation certificate
  • Academic records (online screenshots and uncertified records will negatively affect the evaluation of your application)
  • International exam results (GRE, GMAT, DELF, YDS, YÖS...etc., if required by the university and chosen program)
  • Language test results (if required by the chosen university and program)
  • Research proposal and a sample of your writing work (for PhD applicants only)
